Welcome to Beta Testing for the Attitudes Toward Race and Anti-bias Training Among Healthcare Professionals Study!

Thank you for taking the time to be a beta tester for this thesis project's data collection tool - an online survey. Your participation is vital to help aid in gaining approval from the Institutional Review Board at Harvard University, the Harvard University Area (HUA-IRB) to conduct this study. Below, you will find some testing instructions. These are notes to consider while you test each survey section. Before you begin your role as a beta tester, I want to thank you for your participation during this inactive stage. Your feedback is incredibly helpful! - Kind regards, Laura Melendez, Graduate Student Researcher, Department of Psychology, Harvard University Extension School

Testing Instructions

This study was designed to study a sample of physicians, specifically medical students, medical interns/residents, and physician faculty at academic medical campuses. You were asked to be a part of beta testing for this study because you are not a medical student, medical intern/resident, or physician faculty, but you are matched for the study's sample across demographic variables, such as age, gender, race, etc. Therefore, please feel free to select any options in the sociodemographic questionnaire (section 1) during this testing cycle. Your data inputs (responses) will not be used beyond the beta testing stage (inactive phase) of the study. It is not necessary for you to provide real sociodemographic details during the testing. Please read through each sociodemographic question and make a selection for your response (your choice). Please note: Your response times, however, are being recorded (i.e., the latency) to provide an approximate time it takes to complete each section of the survey and overall. These approximate times will be reported to the HUA-IRB and the overall time will be reported on the study's information/Welcome Page, under the Time Commitment section. In section 2 (the race IAT) and section 3 (the ATIBI Questionnaire) you are encouraged to act as a real participant to enhance your feedback during this testing cycle. Scores and descriptive results for the assessments conducted in sections 2 and 3 will be provided in the last section (Post Survey Information) of the survey.

Eligibility

You will see the study's Welcome page next. The Welcome page is the actual main page of the final survey. Please read through the study information and click the Continue Button. From there, you will be taken to the study's Eligibility Screening Questionnaire. The Eligibility Screening Questionnaire is automatically set to meet the study's inclusion criteria. Each check box is checked with the correct inputs to begin the study. Please read through the instructions, each question, test out drop down menus, just make sure not to alter the predetermined answers. If you alter the answers, you will be redirected to the study's Ineligible page, resulting in the inability to complete the study for testing purposes.

Feedback

Located at the bottom of each page of the survey, you will find a Feedback panel for sharing any concerns you may have or issues you may experience while participating during beta testing. The Feedback panel uses a standard form, as seen below:

During the beta testing cycle, please provide notes in the feedback panel (data input) that you may have for each survey page, if needed. Provide feedback and submit your responses on every page that you find any issues. Your feedback must be submitted before moving on to the next page or your notes will not be saved.

PLEASE NOTE: There is not a feedback form for the race Implicit Association Test (race IAT) pages because this measure is timed. Therefore, providing any feedback during the race IAT will result in an invalid score (error) if you take too long to complete the test.
